here's why you should write your newsletter like a journal
You'd like that, you snoopy creator 😉
Hey creator.
I did not send out an email yesterday because:
I really did not have anything to say.
I was clearing out my inbox (a great excuse not to write, right?)
Can you believe I had over 7k messages just in my Yahoo Mail alone? I have subscribed to a lot of creators over the years, and some of them send out emails every single day.
That is a lot of dedication. As I deleted and unsubscribed from most of these emails, I thought about whether it would be a good idea to send out daily emails.
I understand writing daily Medium, which is a social media platform.
And sending out daily emails builds a habit, a great habit.
Yet, I am not sure people will really like seeing emails every single day from you.
No one has time to read 10 emails from 10 different creators daily, unless they do this.
Furthermore, I have fewer than 10 subscribers, so it does not really matter if I write every single day. So I am going to try it out.
One creator I don’t mind getting daily emails from is Shawna from Skipblast. A serial entrepreneur who has made hundreds of thousands online for over 10 years.
Yet, she shares the behind-the-scenes of her entire business operation.
What I love most about her is her writing style. Her newsletter is written like a business journal for the average Joe.
Before Google’s HCU, I read a lot of her articles and implemented some of her Pinterest strategies.
Now, she’s into other ventures and documenting her journey along the way. She’s worth subscribing to. Check Shawna’s newsletter here.
Finally,
I am thinking of treating this newsletter as a journal, you know, my musings on ideas and projects as a creator.
That’s a lot easier for me to write and keep the streak going. Since I like reading essays. Why don’t I write my creator newsletter as one?
